Here’s another Ghazal that came about last year as well. I have always liked the word “jaanaaN” used as a radeef in Ghazals and have always wanted to write a Ghazal with the same. And hence the following Ghazal was penned:
mujh ko ik baar to seene se lagaa lo jaanaaN
mujh ko is gardish-e-dauraaN se bachaa […]

Here’s a small quatrain (qi’ta) that I wrote last year as well. A simple thought expressed in a simple manner:
maiN ne kab tumse koii shikva kiyaa?
maiN ne kab bevafaa kahaa tumko?
mujhko apne pe hi yaqeen na thaa
maiN ne ilzaam kab diyaa tumko?

Here’s my second nazm… which I totally love!  No no, I’m so not “tooting” my own horn.. it really ended up being a nice nazm.  Iztiraab (which means “bechaini”) is the title of this nazm:

aaj phir raat tirii yaad se bojhal guzri
aaj phir chaaNd mire haal pe ghamgeen rahaa
aaj phir dard kii shiddat ne mujhe […]

My first nazm ever…. oh it was so much easier writing nazm than writing a Ghazal, it seems that the idea flows far better (at least in my case, that’s what happened) and the nazm just “happened” quickly, while I take my own sweet time when I write Ghazals.  Regardless, here’s my first nazm entitled:

Here’s a Ghazal that I wrote about a year ago (before which I had taken a two year break from writing Urdu poetry), hence the Ghazal is nothing really great, though some couplets are nice, but its over-all very light-hearted and contains easy to understand language..

mai-e-nashaat pilaao k kuchh qaraar aaye
vafaa kii sham’aa jalaao k kuchh qaraar aaye

Here’s a ghazal that I also recited in a mushaira that took place in Montreal.  The Ghazal got a lot of applauds, thankfully and was well received by the audience there.

Another ghazal that I wrote while I was learning how to write technically sound Ghazals (though I have to say, I’m still learning!).  This one is yet again, a light-hearted Ghazal and was written on a misra-e-tarah posted on urdustan.net forums.
